Santo Antão
Sãnto Antao is the second-largest island of Cape Verde.
Considered one of the most mountainous of Cape Verde, it has greatly contrasting landscape and soil structures that offer incredible hiking and trekking experiences as well as breathtaking views from the peaks throughout the island.
Its mountains are composed of basalt. Many of its volcanoes are young, especially its calderas.
The island's agriculture products include sugar cane, yams, cassava, bananas, mangoes, and grain. The main product on the island is a kind of rum known as grogue. Mills continue to distil grogue in the Paul Valley.
